Vardiya Bizde Platformu’nun tutuklu subaylarımız için her
Cumartesi ülkemizin çeşitli yerlerinde gerçekleştirdiği Sessiz Çığlık etkinlikleri ikincı yılını doldurdu ve biz bu
geçtiğimiz 9 Şubat Beşiktaş’ta yapılana katıldık.
“Vardiya Bizde” platformunun kendine savsöz olarak seçtiği “Sessiz
Çığlık” sözü bana Norveç’in büyük ressamı Edward Munch’un “Çığlık”ını
anımsatıyor… "

Bu eylem hep subay ailelerinden bekleneceği gibi kibar
kibar, eylemin adına uygun “sessiz” olmuştur, pankartlı bir kokteyl gibi. Bu
Cumartesi farklıydı, hoparlörler gelmiş, lokma dolu kazanlar tütüyordu. TGB ve ADD de oradaydı. İyi bir
günde birkaç yüzü geçmeyen göstericilerin sayısı 2000’e varmıştı.
Müzik vardı, konuşmalar yapıldı, şiirler söylendi.
Çocukların tutuklu babalarına, dedelerine mektupları okundu. Beni çok
sevindiren bir gelişme Vardiye Bizde’cilerin
kendilerine sembol olarak seçtikleri sarı şalları bu sefer giymiş olmaları, ve
hatta gelenlere dağıtmaları oldu!

Bu şekilde herkesin heryerde rahatlıkla
tanıyabileceği bir sembol, bir işaret taşınmasını her zaman istedim ve
destekledim, basına yazdım, internet’te paylaştım, bu blog’da yazdım (“Bayrak
ve Kurdele”, 30 Mayıs 2012), kendim siyah bir kurdele takmayı seçtim, görenlere
sebebini anlattım.
Sağda:
Tanınabilir bir sembol olarak bir kurdele ya da benzeri birşey takılmasını ya da giyilmesinin çok uygun olcağını düşündüm ve sesimin yettiği kadar önerdim. İran Rehine Krizi süresince Amerikalıların yaptığı "sarı kurdele" eylemini de hatırlayarak siyah kurdele takmayı seçtim. Bir siyah kurdele arabamızın antenine, bir tane de penceremizdeki bayrağa takıldı. Bunu bu blog'da yazdım (Bkz. "Bayrak ve Kurdele", 30 Mayıs 2012), elektronik postayla paylaştım, basına ilettim, Ekim 2011'le sağdaki resimle internet üzerinden fikri paylaştım. Vardiya Bizde'nin sarı şalınıöğrenince siyaha bir de sarı kurdele ekledim.

29 Ekim 2012’de Ankara Ulus Meydanı’nda karşılaştığımız üç Vardiya Bizde’ci hanımdan onların
sembollerinin sarı şal olduğunu öğrendim- o sırada da giyiyorlardı zaten. Bunun
üzerine siyah kurdeleme bir de sarısını ekledim. Ama bundan önce katılmış
olduğumuz Vardiya Bizde
etkinliklerinde sarı şallara rastlamamıştım.
Böyle bir sembolün tanınılır hâle gelmesiyle sadece
toplandığımız yerlerde gelen geçenin dikkatini çekmeyen sloganlar atarak ya da
pankart tutarak kendimizi avutmaktan öte, her gittiğimiz yerde,
yaptığımız alışverişte, girdiğimiz lokantada, bakkalda, gazete bayiinde
düşüncemizin elçisi olurduk.
Derken bir de kırmızı- beyaz kurdele dağıttılar, “bunu
heryerde takacağız” diye. Eh, onu da taktım, şimdi dilek ağacı gibi
dolanıyorum. Dileklerimin ne olduğunu tahmin etmek de zor değil.
İzmir’de “casusuluk” iddiasıyla tutuklanan 310 subay, düzmece
Balyoz delillerinin hazırlanmasına
şahit olan Orhan Aykut’un Aydınlık ve
Ulusal’a açıklamaları hâla günceldi. Balyoz mahkûmlarının aileleri Aykut’un
açıklamalarına dayanarak 21 Ocak 2013’de suç duyurusunda bulunmuşlardı ama gizli
tanıklara, elektronik posta ihbarlara dayanarak dalga dalga tutuklamalar yapan
Türk adaleti, Türk subaylarını aklama ihtimâli olan herhangi bir araştırmaya
girmekte ayak sürüyor. “Kaçabilir” ya da “delil karartabilir” diye neyle itham
edildiklerini bile tam bilemeyen, hüküm giymemiş, hasta düşmüş sanıkları
tahliye etmemekte israr eden Türk adaleti'nin bu sefer acelesi yok; isteyen kaçsın, isteyen delil karartsın, al sana bol bol zaman! Ama herşey ellerinde, herşey
danışıklı döğüş olduğu için hiçbirinin kaçması gerekmiyor- şimdilik!
En güncel olan konu kâlbinden ağır hasta olup acil
cerrahi müdaheleye ihtiyaç duyan Emekli Oramiral Orhan Saygun’un durumuydu. 22
Eylül 2012’de sonuçlanan Balyoz Darbe
Planı davasında 18 yıl düşmüştü Amiral Saygun’a! Sıhhi nedenlerle tahliyesi
için bir hareket vardı, Adli Tıp’ın 6 Şubat 2013’te verdiği karar da bunu
destekliyordu. Karar mahkemeye ulaştığında Amiral Saygun açık kâlp ameliyatına
alınmıştı bile!
Hükümet Ergenekon,
Balyoz ve benzeri tertiplere kurban
edilmiş hükümlü- hükümsüz tutukluların ve ailelerinin insani problemlerine son
derece duyarsız davranıyor. Kanser hastası Prof.Dr. Fatih Hilmioğlu’nun
tutukluğu hâla devam etmekte. 13 Nisan 2009’dan beri tutuklu, hani Prof. Dr.
Mehmet Haberal’ın da toparlanıp götürüldüğü dalga!
Ama son zamanlarda bazı şeyler değişti. 22 Ocak 2013’te İzmir’de
310’u subay 357 kişiyi “casusluk ve fuhuş” bahanesiyle toparlanılınca halk
ithamlara inanmakta daha tereddütlüydü. Subayların istifasının daha yaralayıcı
bir etkisi oldu. 24 Ocak 2013’te Donanma Komutanı Oramiral Nusret Güner
istifa edince Taraf gazetesi kendini
tuttu da “Daha Karpuz Kesecektik” gibi adinin bayağısı bir başlık atmadı!

Hasan Aksayve Deniz Kuvvetlei Komutanı Oramiral Eşref Uğur Yiğit, subayların arkaarkaya haksız yere tutuklanmalarına tepki olarak topluca istifa edince Taraf gazetesi haberi bu başlıkla vermişti!
Ocak ayında 110 tane havacı pilotumuz da istifa edince, çok
istedikleri Büyük Ortadoğu Projesi
için savaşacak ordumuzun da kalmayacağını farketmeye başlıyorlardır yavaş yavaş
herhâlde.
ABD elçisi Francis Riccardione’nin 5 Şubat 2013’tede ülkemizdeki adalet sistemindeki çarpıklıklara işaret etmesi, ABD’nin güzel hatırı için hakkı hukuku çöpe atan AKP hükümetine şamar gibi gelmiştir herhâlde. AKP Genel Başkan Yardımcısı Hüseyin Çelik 7 Şubat 2013’te üste çıkmak için şunları söyledi:
“Ricciardone’ye önce şunu hatırlatırım; siz önce
Guantanamo’yu izah edin dünyaya. Dinime dahleden bari Müslüman olsa. Önce
kendine bak kardeşim. Biz Sayın Ricciardone’yi kendi sınırları ve hudutları
içinde kalmaya davet ediyoruz.”
“Tencere
dibin kara-seninki benden kara” tarzı bu çıkışıyla Silivri’ye karşı Guantanamo’yu
koyan Çelik, aslında üste çıkmaktan ziyade itirafta bulunmuş oldu. AKP kendi
seçmenini kandırmış olsa da efendileri kulaklarını çekti bir kere; belki de
fazla çaktırıyorlar, belki de kraldan fazla kralcı oluyorlar, bilemiyorum!
Basına bakılırsa Başbakan Erdoğan Şubat ayı için planladığı ABD gezisini
iptâl etmiş. Aydınlık ve Ulusal’a bakılırsa da Beyaz Saray “şimdi
olmaz, belki sonra” demiş.

Şubat 2013’te SkyTürk 360, Şimdi Söz Sende programında Kanada’dan canlı
bağlantıyla bir mülakat gerçekleştirdi. Mülakat konuğu, 2001’de verdiği ifadeleriyle
Ergenekon soruşturmalarını başlatmış olan

Türkiye’de
yasa dışı işlere karışmış, istihbarat kurumları arasında gidip gelmiş, çeşitli
kanatların basın organlarında çalışmış, eşcinsellik gerekçesiyle askerlikten
yırtmış bir adamcağız bu Bay Güney. 1 Mart 2001’de bir otomobil kaçakçılığı
meselesiyle ilgili olarak gözaltına alınmış. Bürosunda bulunan altı çuval evrak
içinde “Ergenekon”isimli bir örgütle ilgili belgeler bulunmuş. Güney gözaltında
işkence gördüğünü iddia ediyor. Ablasının ödediği kefaletle serbest bırakılmış
ve ülkeden çıkması yasak olduğu hâlde ABD’ye gitmiş, turist vizesiyle
gittiği hâlde bir benzincide çalışmış ve din değiştirip Hristiyan olmuş. Sonra
tekrar ülke ve din değiştirmiş; hâlihazırda Kanada’da Toronto’da bir Haham.
Mülakatta
Güney çok şey söyledi, çok şey sakladı! Bizi ilgilendiren ise, ifadesini
işkence altında verdiğini söylemesi. İlgili sözleri aynen yazayım iyisi mi:
“Türkiye’de
işkenceyle ifadem alındı ve polisler soruşturmaya uğradılar ve böylece ben
işkencede ifade alındığım kabul edildi. Fakat halâ savcılıkta veya
mahkemede ‘Tuncay Güney’in samimi
beyanlarına dayanılarak’ diye insanlara sorular soruluyor. Fakat bu polisler
zaten işkence yaptıklarından dolayı suçlandılar ve açıklama yapıldı bu konuda. Bu kasetler de aynı şekilde hukuk düzeyinde
geçersizdir. Ve böyle olduğu hâlde hâla mahkemelerde benim kasetlerim ve benim
ifadelerimin samimi beyanname olarak kullanılması hukuki açıdan da bir
çelişkidir.”

Oramiral
Saygun kâlp ameliyatından sonra kendine geldiğinde tahliye edilmiş olduğu haberini aldı- şimdilik. Bir sene sonunda mahkeme durumunu tekrar değerlendirecek ve eğer sıhhati iyiyse 18 yıllık tutukluluğuna devam etmek üzere kodese buyur edilecek.
Derken yoğun bakımdayken beklenmedik bir misafir geldi
“geçmiş olsun” demeye: Başbakan Erdoğan! Balyoz
sanıklarına hiçbir empati emaresi göstermemiş olan Başbakan için bir ilk’di bu!
Hayır, bir dakika, tam da öyle değil. Son günlerde ara ara sorumluluğu savcı ve
yargıçlara pas etmeye teşebbüs eden lâflarını duyduk, yargının bağımsız olduğu
ve hukuk sisteminin yapmış olabileceği herhangi bir hukuksuzlukla kendisinin ve
partisinin hiç bir alâkası olmadığı masalını yaşatabilmek için!

The “Silent
Scream” (Sessiz Çığlık) demonstrations
take place every Saturday at various locations in our country. We had attended
the Istanbul demonstration twice befor,.[1]
on February 9th we went again. They are organized by Vardiya
Bizde (“Now it’s Our Shift”), a group composed of the wives and
relatives of officers arrested, put on trial, imprisoned (with or without
verdict) during the Ergenekon,
“Sledgehammer”, and affiliated “conspiracy” cases. To these are added the 310 officers of the new Izmir “espionage” case!

The “Silent
Scream” demonstrations have always been silent, genteel, polite, social gatherings;
ladies, gentlemen and children chatting with placards in their hands. They have
been held without pause for a full two years now.
But this
time the crowd was sizeable, some 2000 people, with loudspeakers, music,
speeches, poems (some by the children and grandchildren of the imprisoned
officers) and sweets being served.

What especially cheered me was that they
were wearing and passing out their yellow shawls, their selected symbol which they had been neglecting to wear. They were also passing out
red-and-white ribbons “to be worn everywhere!” I had always supported the idea
of having such a recognizable symbol with which we may express our viewpoint
wherever we go.[2]

I wanted to launch the idea of a ribbon as a recognizable symbol of a stance, an outlook, protesting what is unjust, inspired in part from the yellow ribbon of the Iran hostage crisis. (See: “TheFlag and the Ribbon”, 30 May-Mayıs 2012.) I thought a black ribbon was appropiate since it is dark and pessimistic, and declared it online in October 2011 with this illustration to whoever is willing to listen. There is also one on our car's aerial and one attached to the flag at our window. When I heard about the yellow shawls of "Now it's Our Shift", I added a yellow ribbon to the black one.

On the way home, we ran into a rally of the "Republic Platform" (Cumhuriyet Platformu), in solidarity with all victims of the government-endorsed plot allegations and unethical judicial practices. Speaker is Şule Perinçek, filling in for her husband Doğu Perinçek, head of the Labor Party (İşçi Partisi). Mr. Perinçek could not attend, being imprisoned in Silivri, along with Mehmet Perinçek, their son.

Especially
topical this time was the case of Ret. Full-General Ergin Saygun.
General Saygun
was condemned to 18 years in the infamous Balyoz
(“Sledgehammer”) verdicts of Sept. 22nd, 2013[3],
and suffers from ill health like many others condemned or held as suspect in
the Ergenekon, “Sledgehammer”,
related and similar “plot” allegations. There were pleas for his release on
health grounds, supported by a report from the Board for Legal Medicine[4]
issued on February 6th, 2013. When the report reached the court, the general
was already undergoing open heart surgery!
The AKP government has been as callous towards the human problems of the victims of its Ergenekon, “Sledgehammer” and
similar plot allegations as it has been devious and underhanded in dreaming
them up. The case of the gravely ill Prof. Dr. Fatih Hilmioğlu is still very
topical- and he is still held without
verdict, only on suspicion- since April 13th, 2009.[5]
But there
has been some changes in the country- in spite of the size and proportion of
pro-government media, suspicion and doubt regarding the validity of the plot
allegations is spreading among the people, fed on the one hand by the
opposition media and on the other by the brazenly controversial moves by the
government.[6] When the
courts in Izmir accepted the indictment of 357 suspects on January 22nd. 2013,
310 of them active or retired officers, the public was less openly accepting!
There was a
spate of resignations in officers’ ranks. The Commander of the Fleet, Nusret Güner, had
resigned on on January 24th, 2013. Meanwhile Rear Admiral İskender Yıldırım,
Commander of the Battle Fleet, is a defendant in the “espionage” case with a
ban on leaving the country, which is ironic when the government is gearing up
for a war in Syria. Most sensationally 110 pilots from the air force resigned within the
month of January.
The
defiant sattelite-only channel Ulusal and the
affiliated newspaper Aydınlık struck
a gold mine when they broadcast the eyewitness testimony of a certain Orhan
Aykut who claims to have been present during the forging of the documents for
the “Sledgehammer” case.[7]
The Vardiya ladies seized the
occasion, the families of the “Sledgehammer” convicts lodged an official
request for an enquiry on January 21st, both in Istanbul and Ankara. The State
Prosecutors, so eager to round up journalists, academicians, intellectuals and
officers on unlikely plot allegations, are remarkably reluctant to undertake
any investigations that might absolve them.
It is becoming harder for the population to ignore these- even the great proportion who don't read books and only watch dumbed-down broadcasts!
US Ambassador
Francis Riccardione in Ankara made headlines with his criticism, on February
5th, of the Turkish legal system, the absurdities of the Silivri trials, the
gratuitious arrests and the numbers in captivity. In other words, the official
representative of the country allegedly behind the plot allegations, the
roundups, the fabricated evidence and the corrupt judges was criticizing
exactly those policies.
AKP vice-chairman Çelik tried to turn the tables by
saying “...first you should explain Guantanamo...”[8],
probably feeling very clever but in effect affirming the shadowy reputation of
our Silivri through the unfortunate comparison. Çelik’s show of defiance
might have fooled the hardcore AKP adulators but the rap on the knuckles was
real! The press reports that Prime Minister Erdoğan cancelled his projected
visit to the US in February. Ulusal
and Aydınlık claim it was the White
House that turned the request down!
Is it a
change of heart, a change of tactics, or a new phase in the operation?
On February
8th the television station SkyTürk brodcast a live interview, by Skype
connection, with an enigmatic person by the name of Tuncay Güney, a man with an
incredibly complicated past involving journalism (for diametrically opposed
media organizations), cult circles, forgery and fraud, brushing shoulders with
the underworld, alleged espionage between government intelligence organizations,
evading military service on grounds of homosexuality, and some time spent in
prison. Statements he made when in custody in 2001 had been the foundation of
the Ergenekon inquests that have been
shaking the foundations of the Turkish Republic ever since. He was released on
bail soon after and left the country.[9]

Speaking
from Toronto, where he now lives, Güney had a lot to say, and a lot to withold.
Among other things, he said that his testimony had been obtained through
torture, and that, though the police officers involved had been accused and a
statement released on the incident, the courts continued to uphold his testimony.
“Looking for justice in Turkey is like looking for a virgin in a brothel” he
continued, “...the cassettes recorded under torture...all the statements I made
under torture, they are all invalid. You cannot accuse these people”.
“...Of
course people shouldn’t be put in prison because of the things I said. My
conscience bothers me. I wouldn’t have said all of those things if I hadn’t
been tortured.”
“...The Ergenekon
case is now closed. The reputation of these people (accused and imprisoned in
the Ergenekon trials) should be restored. And it will be, you will see.”
“I believe
this phase is over, the Ergenekon
phase is over, these people should be set free, bit by bit. There is another
development in Turkey today, in the Middle East.”[10]
This new
phase, he said would be the “Turkish Arab Spring”, ushering the end of Turkey
as a nation-state, within the framework of the “Greater Middle-East Project” of
the U.S.[11]
When
Admiral Saygun recovered his conciousness, he was, provisionally, a free
man. The court had officially released him on grounds of ill health on February
8th, 2013. The decision calls for a new health report after a year, to see if
the general is healthy enough to continue his 18 year sentence. In the meantime
there is a ban on travelling abroad.
The invalid
received a most extraordinary visit- Prime Minister Erdoğan himself was there
to wish the general a speedy recovery. The man who had no love lost for the
“Sledgehammer conspirators” was showing the first sign of any sympathy. No, I
correct myself, for the last few days he had been making statements that seemed
to shift the blame to the prosecutors and judges, attempting to uphold the
pretence that the judicial system is independent and he and the AKP are totally
blameless of any illegal and unjust practices the courts and prosecutors may or
may not have been guilty of!

[9] Güney was arrested on March 1st 2001
for a car smuggling affair, and the police searching his office reportedly
found, inside six sacks of documents, some that referred to an organization
called “Ergenekon”. Güney underwent questioning which he claims involved
torture (electric shock to the genitals). He was bailed out by his sister and in spite of a ban on leaving the
country, he managed to go to the U.S. where he worked at a gas station (probably
illegaly, since he reportedly only possessed a tourist visa) and converted to
Christianity. Now he is resident in Canada, and converted again, this time to
Judaism, and become a Rabbi. Güney’s statements during questioning have been
instrumental in setting the Ergenekon
witchhunt rolling.
